God is Always at Work

I love the story of Elisha and his servant who were in the city of Dothan.  In 2 Kings 6:15-17 the servant got up early and went out and saw that the city was surrounded by troops who had been sent to capture Elisha.  The servant ran back inside the house and told Elisha what he had seen and then asked, "Oh, my master, what are we to do?"  Elisha replied, "Don't be afraid, for those who are with us outnumber those who are with them."  I can only imagine the look on the servant's face.  Then Elisha prayed "Lord, please open his eyes and let him see."  "So the LORD opened the servant's eyes and he saw the mountain was covered with horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha."
We are in a time when it is easy to be like the servant.  We look around and see the enemy of corona virus and the enemy of corrupt politicians and violent hate groups surrounding us.  It is easy to despair.  However, if our eyes were to be opened as when Elisha prayed, we would see that God is at work in the background.  His purposes will always stand regardless of what is going on in the world.  On most mornings before I leave the house I pray that God will open my spiritual eyes and ears so that that I can see what He is doing and hear what He is saying.  Without God answering that prayer I can easily get overwhelmed by all that is in the news.
In the study "Experiencing God; Knowing and Doing the Will of God" Henry Blackaby wrote 7 realities.  One of these is "God is always at work around you."  He went on to say that when you see God at work that is His call for you to join Him.  You should stop what you are doing and join Him in His work.
Let me encourage you to pray daily that God would open your spiritual eyes and ears so that you can know the truth of what is really going on in the world.
