An Inside View of Covid 19

I started 2021 with a bang, and I'm not talking about fireworks.  On Jan. 1, 2021, after several days of a hacking cough, backaches, and generally feeling "blah", my wife convinced me to go the the emergency room.  Because of some on-going heart issues and the fact that I had pneumonia a few years back prompted us to go and get me checked out.  Long story, short, because we had been to Epcot with our daughter and her family a few days earlier, they did a covid 19 text and it came back positive.  My primary symptoms have been cough, aches, and extreme fatigue.  The coughs and the aches have subsided, but the fatigue continues.  The day after I was diagnosed, my wife could not stand without leaning on something.  I could not get her out of the house and into the car so we had to call EMS to pick her up and take her to ER.  I could only wait at home.  Finally, a few hours later she called and told me that she also tested positive, and I could come get her.  I drove up to the drive through and they brought her out in a wheelchair and we made it home OK.  Her symptoms were cough, dizziness and fatigue.  She is also improving.  Here are a few "take-aways" from our experience to far.
  • No matter what precautions you take, wearing a mask, social distancing, hand washing, etc. you can still be infected.
  • The symptoms are definitely different from the flu or common cold. (someone suggested that we just had colds, inferring that after 82 years on this earth I could not tell the difference)
  • Prayer is your best friend.  We have experienced hundreds of people praying for us and firmly believe that we are experiencing the answers in our bodies.
  • Friends are price-less.  We have enough food to last through our quarantine, and several who have volunteered to pick up things for us at the grocery store or pharmacy if needed.  One friend drove an hour from her home and brought food for us.
  • Godly deacons are a gift from God.  A deacon filled the pulpit on my first Sunday out.  Another will lead prayer meeting this week.  We get calls and texts daily from them pledging prayer and offering help.
God willing we should finish our quarantine by Jan. 12-13.  We look forward to getting back to some sort of normalcy, and regaining our stamina.  Be aware that just because you haven't experienced the virus that doesn't mean that it isn't real.  I've never had ALS, but I know it is real.  Thank God for your health and pray for those who are in need.
